There is a caution however–the extend to which there is gender inequality in one culture when considered from the viewpoint of a different culture can be hegemonic. What some outsiders perceive as serious gender inequity might be acceptable to those people directly involved. In other cases, gender inequity cries out for policy intervention to protect rights and provide economic subsistence. In all situations it is advisable that serious attention be given to the social construction of gender and its relationship to at home jobs and the effect it has on human worth, dignity, social justice, and meaningful employment.

Interdisciplinary approaches using social and economic theories for the development of educational programs and public policies are essential.
